Tampa Bay Fishing

Tampa Bay Fishing - Most of my fishing is in shallow water in Tampa Bay, Cortez and north Sarasota Bay, where we explode the myth that you have to be in deep water to get the big ones.
Shallow water is home to countless bait species and that's why it is where you will find big snook, redfish, trout, cobia, sharks, drum and many others. This abundance of food is why the "skinny" water is so productive and it's why there is such a popularity in flats fishing, which is obvious by the number of flats boats we see now. In fact, direct your eyes to the image at the top of this page. That mangrove point there on the right is a prime snook and redfish spot. As your captain, my job is to put you there quietly and at just the right angle to present the bait - live or artificial. Your job from there is to hang on - and I do mean tightly, as these fish can be tough customers.
Oyster bars, mangrove bushes, sandbars and other structure are perfect for hiding and ambushing bait and we take it right to the big fish that live there. With the help of a shallow-draft flats skiff, we can go places larger boats can't dream of.
Tampa Bay is a tremendous estuary system with miles of diverse coastline and some of the best fishing you can find anywhere in the state. Situated between the cities of Tampa and St. Petersburg, there are very few of our species you can't find inside the bay. Even grouper, snapper and kingfish frequent Tampa Bay, as the deep-water shipping channels provide the depth these offshore species prefer.
Sarasota Bay Fishing - Just a bit to the south is Sarasota Bay, which is another great expanse of pristine water, featuring miles of mangroves and healthy grass flats loaded with fish.
We also fish the beaches north and south of the bay, where mackerel, cobia and tarpon are frequent targets. If you've never caught a tarpon, you owe it to yourself to sample this amazing fishery. During the summer season, we fish them here on our home waters and travel to the world famous Boca Grande Pass, where giant tarpon congregate every year and offer the absolute best opportunity to hook into a fish of 100 pounds or more-even if you are a fishing novice. There are just so many fish, it's hard to miss.
In short, Florida has much to offer anglers and this stretch of coast has it all.
